Base Level Evaluation in Buildings with Different Foundation Levels by Soil-foundation-structure Interaction
The base level is among the effective parameters in determining the seismic force on a structure, if the equivalent-static method is used for analyzing a structure. It is obvious that the base level is located on foundation in buildings in which foundation is built in a single level and there is not any interaction between the structure's walls and the soil; however, in some buildings which hav...
متن کاملA review on interaction behaviour of structure-foundation-soil system
Soil-structure interaction is interdisciplinary field which involves structural and geotechnical engineering. In the conventional non-interaction analysis of building frame structural designer assumed that columns are resting on unyielding support. Similarly, in foundation design, foundation settlements are calculated without considering the influence of the structural stiffness. Although, inte...
متن کاملBEM-FEM coupling for wave-structure interaction
We present a numerical method, based on a coupling of finite elements and boundary elements, to solve a fluid–solid interaction problem posed in the plane. The boundary unknowns involved in our formulation are approximated by a spectral method. We provide error estimates for the Galerkin method and present numerical results that illustrate the accuracy of our scheme.
متن کاملVibration of Timoshenko Beam-Soil Foundation Interaction by Using the Spectral Element Method
This article presents an analysis of free vibration of elastically supported Timoshenko beams by using the spectral element method. The governing partial differential equation is elaborated to formulate the spectral stiffness matrix. Effectively, the non classical end boundary conditions of the beam are the primordial task to calibrate the phenomenon of the Timoshenko beam-soil foundation inter...
متن کاملParallel Soil–Foundation–Structure Interaction Computations
Described here is the Plastic Domain Decomposition (PDD) Method for parallel elasticplastic finite element computations related to Soil–Foundation–Structure Interaction (SFSI) problems. The PDD provides for efficient parallel elastic-plastic finite element computations steered by an adaptable, runtime repartitioning of the finite element domain. The adaptable repartitioning aims at balancing co...
